Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar: Hollywood

Occ Hollywood Lip Tar

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is a 100% vegan and they preach cruelty free products and are also internationally certified by PETA. You can purchase their legendary lip tars from www.occmakeup.com for $18/£12 plus shipping and you get 0.33oz/9.35grams of Lip tar that will last you a life time. Alternatively like myself you can order from www.cocktailcosmetics.co.uk where they sell these bad boys for £11.95 and £3.50 postage. Cocktail Cosmetics have a great range of lip tars, not every shade but most of them and they also restock really quickly as well as getting the new collection stock pronto.
Swatches of Hollywood
Okay so the lip tar I’m reviewing today is called Hollywood and she’s described as a ‘beige/gold metallic shimmer’ although if you apply her lightly over a nude lip liner or bare lips she does take on a peachy hue. All Lip tars have a minty smell and taste because they are formulated with peppermint oil, personally I prefer mint to sickly sweet smells so this is a bonus. Sadly though due to the mint it is not advised you use Lip Tars on or around the eyes, if you want to though do it with extreme care.

Lips tars come in a squeezy clear tube that reminds me of artists paint and have a tiny nozzle top, they are packed into a transparent wallet so you can view of the shades without having to swatch. Inside the wallet there is also a little card with instructions (I advise you follow them closely) and a mini lip brush.

OCC Lips tars at first are a bit tricky to use, the most common mistake made is to add too much product to the lips and then it starts to bleed terribly. Honestly Less is more, it may sound crazy that a single bead can colour your lips but that’s the magic of a lip tar. Just remember to follow the instructions they provide and nothing will go wrong.
Apply the tiniest bead of Lip Tar with our newly-included #010S Short-Handled Precision Lip Brush for complete, opaque coverage, either mixed with other shades or on its own.
PRO TIP: LIP TAR: MATTE™ is best applied over properly moisturized and primed lips. LIP TAR: PRIMER insures an optimal application.

Hollywood used as a highlight on top of Lydia lip tar
Hollywood for me is glamorous highlight shade that adds depth to any shade, if you blend it into the centre of your lips you get THE most stunning pouty effect. Personally for me it is a little too pale to be used as an all over shade, it would look amazing on a rich dark skin tone, especially in the summer. Hollywood tends to fade after a few hours with me, leaving behind the faintest trace of shimmer. I really like this new style lip tar, I’m hoping to get my hands on Pleasure model too as that looks like a pink based highlight.

Do you have any problems using them?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid lipstick in Spicy.

Anastasia Beverly Hills is a brand that has a lot of Hype behind then over the internet, and to be honest they deserve it tenfold.  On the 7th January 2015 they launched their Liquid lipsticks that became a hit across the globe pretty much over night. You can purchase any of the 20 shades directly from www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com for $20 a pop, but the international shipping is horribly expensive, or I purchased all of mine from www.rosesbeautystore.com who is based in the UK and sell them for £22 each plus £2 shipping and they arrived within 4 days without a hefty customs fee.   Alternatively you could try buying through eBay, but the prices are inflated, you can’t guarantee they aren't already tested or genuine etc.

Spicy, Carina, Retro Coral

The tube they come in is very simple and elegant, giving you a clear view of the colour and they are a nice size too, not too thin that they seem breakable and not too long that they are unable to fit in a makeup bag. The applicator brush is probably the best I have ever used, it’s nice and long with a little bit of bend with small fibres so you can achieve a nice crisp line and a wide coverage in just one sweep, no more faffing around with different lip brushes.

The shade I’m reviewing today is called Spicy and she is a bright bold orange red which dry’s velvety matte. I have noticed with all ABH lip tars they dry a little darker than they look in the tube, which in this case I was SO thankful for as she reminded me of Chicken Tikka curry sauce (Not necessarily a bad thing…)when I first got her out the box.

When Spicy is actually on my lips it is a really stunning bright red that makes my lips look so plump and full! I literally have sex doll lips XD. I have read a lot of negative reviews from people regarding the texture of these, I think they have a really soft feel to them, almost velvety which is pretty rare for a matte lipstain and as a result these feel light and dreamy to wear! They are non drying and last a good 5 hours before needing a touch up, but of course their biggest weakness is grease/oil.

Have any of you managed to get your hands on these?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid lipstick in Carina.

The shade I’m reviewing today is called Carina and she is a deep Cerise shade which dry’s velvety matte. I have noticed with all ABH lip tars they dry a little darker than they look in the tube. Carina is a little bit of an Odd shade. Depending on the lighting she can look a light natural pink, a deep cerise or a coral pink. Either way it’s beautiful but a little unpredictable! You would think it would look really strong on my skin tone would you??

Carina was a bit of a surprise shade for me, I was unsure if it would even suit me when I bought it! Thanks to the colour shifting pink it does look incredible and I’m glad I did actually get it. Again I have read a lot of negative reviews from people regarding the texture of these, I think they have a really soft feel to them, almost velvety which is pretty rare for a matte lipstain and as a result these feel light and dreamy to wear!
